Our office, in conjunction with Pet Dental Services, now offers anesthesia-free dental care to dogs and cats. Highly trained dental technicians perform a thorough dental cleaning including asubgingival scaling as well as machine polishing, without the use of anesthesia. For dogs and cats with underlying health issues that prohibit anesthesia, or for those that have not yet developed severe oral disease, non-anesthetic teeth cleaning is an excellent alternative.
Dogs and cats with dental tartar and calculus that has not yet resulted in severe gingivitis or periodontal disease, can benefit from this service. We recommend routine teeth cleaning every 6 months in most cases to prevent dental tartar and calculus from developing into severe gingivitis or periodontal disease. Routine dental care not only avoids the need for anesthesia, but also avoids extra expense associated with anesthesia. Once more severe oral disease develops, anesthesia is required to resolve underling oral disease before getting on a regular schedule of non-anesthetic teeth cleaning can be done.
This procedure is done on an out-patient basis and takes approximately 30 minutes. While cleaning your pet's teeth, the dental technicians will evaluate the overall oral health of your pet's mouth and should an pathological tooth abnormalities been seen, additional treatment recommendations will be made.
Regular dental care is just as important for our pets as it is for people. Keeping your pet's gums and teeth health with routine dental care will help avoid more severe oral disease. Non-anesthetic teeth cleaning on a regular basis is an important part of maintaining your pet's overall good health.
Dogs and cats with existing severe gingivitis or periodontal disease will first require a through dental cleaning under anesthesia BEFORE being a candidate for routine non-anesthetic teeth cleaning. Once your pet's existing oral disease is resolved, they can then be put on a regular schedule of teeth cleaning to reduce the risk of future oral disease.
Our office offers complimentary dental evaluations to determine your pet's current oral health condition. Following the evaluation, a detailed estimate of recommendations will be provided. This will allow us to discuss which method of teeth cleaning would be best for your pet.
Call our office today at 561-395-4030 to schedule a complimentary dental evaluation for your pet or for more information.
